Footwear Trends for Fall/Winter 2010
Boots for Winter 2010
Rescue those thigh-high boot from last winter season and take-on the new midi-length clothing trend with a pair of mid-calf boots. Metallic heels are a new hardware update and faux-fur makes a comeback in yeti-like boots.
Fur features heavily in everything from skirts to coats, hats and handbags and boots are no exception. Not simply for fashionable ski-bunnies, over-hairy boots (named Mukluks) are paired with leather pieces, country tweeds and plaids, sweater dresses and this season’s Intarsia knits. This ‘70s inspired Bohemian-style can also teamed with delicate flowing fabrics such as silk and chiffon.
For those who shy away from this hairy trend then give a nod to the fashionable footwear of the season with a more subtle fur-trimmed ankle boot and a pair of up-to-the-minute fur mittens.
Wedge Heels
Embrace one of the key footwear fashion trends by wearing a pair of wedge-heel boots. More comfortable to walk in than a stiletto heel, find wedges on everything from lace-ups to wellingtons. The perfect pairing to the season’s leg-lengthening pants and floor-sweeping skirts.
Kitten Heels
Chic, practical footwear is part of the grown-up trend. The demure kitten heel usurps the sky-high stiletto in the style stakes. This season’s easier-to-walk in lower heel comes in everything from leopard print to tactile velvet.
White Tights
Forget traditional dark-colored hosiery and step-out in style in a pair of white opaque tights or leggings. Take on the winter white trend in everything from bright white to softer cream. Best paired with the quintessential little black dress, this season’s butter-soft black leather, or monochrome prints.
Alternatively for a vintage retro look go all out by teaming white tights with this season’s neon colors of yellow, lipstick red and toxic turquoise.
Unless wearing black avoid black shoes paired with white tights. Try light brown and nude, navy or soft metallics.
